Art Deco was a popular design movement from 1920 until 1939, affecting the decorative arts such as architecture, interior design, and industrial design, as well as the visual arts such as fashion, painting, the graphic arts, and film. This movement was, in a sense, an amalgam of many different styles and movements of the early 20th century, including Constructivism, Cubism, Modernism, Bauhaus, Art Nouveau, and Futurism. Its popularity peaked during the Roaring Twenties. Although many design movements have political or philosophical roots or intentions, Art Deco was purely decorative. At the time, this style was seen as elegant, functional, and ultra modern as well.

Cimabue, Coppo Di Marcovaldo Dionysius, Duccio di Buoninsegna, Jacopo Di Cione and others. There is no consensus on the exact moment when the Byzantine period began. Many consider Constantine I ( 306–337) to be the first Byzantine Emperor. He founded Constantinople as a "New Rome" in 330 and made it his capital. The Byzantine Empire describes the Greek-speaking Roman Empire of the Middle Ages.

Fauvism as a movement, had no concrete theories, and was short lived, beginning in 1905 and ending in 1907, they only had three exhibitions. Fauvists simplified lines, made the painting subject easy to read, exaggerated perspectives with brilliant, arbitrary colors. The French word, "Fauves" means wild beasts, the group's name was given, humourously and not as a compliment. This group of works is by Georges Braque, Charles Camoin, Andre Derain, Kees van Dongen, Raoul Dufy, Othon Friesz, Roger de La Fresnaye, Henri Manguin, Pierre Albert Marquet, Henri Matisse, Georges Rouault, Louis Valtat and Maurice de Vlaminck. Matisse was seen as the leader of the movement, due to his age and prior self-establishment in the academic art world.
